Virtual
Tour 360°
Panoramas
“VR” or “Virtual Reality”
refers to the capability of the viewer to interact
with what they see.
The strength of 360º photography lies in the interactivity.
Unlike still photographs or where the experience
is passive, a 360º panorama places the viewer at
the center of any chosen location and enables them
to explore the scene in its entirety, in detail,
and at their own pace. In addition to being able
to pan around and up and down, the user can also
zoom in and out to see details close up. VR
movies invite you to participate actively as if
you were actually there! |
Panoramic Format
We offer two types of 360º panorama. A Spherical
Panorama which effectively suspends the viewer
in the center of a sphere with the ability to
look in every direction, and a Cylindrical
Panorama which has the same 360º horizontal
field of view but a lesser vertical field of view
of approximately 100º.

How we make 360 degree PANORAMAs

Photo Stitching: The two basic ways
we make these types of interactive movies are using
stitching software, or a parabolic mirror optic. In
the first method, about 12 wide angle photographs
are digitally stitched together using software. This
method works best for scenery where there is not much
movement. Click on the image to the left to see a
stitched 360 degree panorama.

Parabolic Optic: The parabolic mirror
optic is a curved mirror set up high above so that
it can see the entire surrounding area. Then a photograph
is taken of the reflection in the mirror which results
in a circular warped looking photograph. Software
is then used to unwarp the photo and convert to the
final interactive movie. This method is best suited
for when the scene has a lot of movement, or is a
tight enclosure (e.g., car interior), or has non-distinguishing
features (e.g., snow landscape). Click on the left
